Step Into the World of Dancing
Square and round dancing are two sides of the same coin: social, rhythmic movement built on teamwork and community. One is spontaneous, the other choreographed, and both are a fun way to stay active and sharp. Lively squares and flowing rounds offer a welcoming environment where dancers of all levels connect and enjoy the music together.
About Square Dance
Eight dancers form a square, moving together in time with lively music. The fun comes from coordinating movements with others and sharing the energy of the dance.
A Caller guides the group in real time, creating a unique sequence for every dance from a library of established movements. Dancers listen for each call and respond immediately, keeping both mind and body active while enjoying a social, friendly atmosphere.
About Round Dance
Round dancing is a choreographed ballroom style performed by couples moving together across the dance floor. Each dance follows a set sequence designed for a specific piece of music.
A Cuer announces each movement just before it occurs, keeping dancers in sync. This allows dancers to enjoy the smooth, flowing patterns of the dance. The result is an elegant, social experience that emphasizes rhythm, connection, and grace.
A Missouri Tradition
Missouri has a rich history of dancing together, and in 1995, square dancing was named the official state American folk dance. Both square and round dancing thrive on social connection and a friendly atmosphere, where every dancer is considered a neighbor. Clubs across the state welcome newcomers, and no partner or prior dance experience is required to join in the fun.
